Programs at Centro Santa Catalina

Centro Santa CatalinaBelow is a comprehensive list of programs offered at Centro Santa Catalina.

Our Programs:

  • Valores, Fe y Vida (Values, Faith and Life) is a
4-year program of personal growth and development for area women.
Graduates of the program now are paid to teach the classes. The classes
cover spiritual growth as well as leadership development and
values-based decision making. The women also study and reflect on
Scripture as it relates to their own lives.
  • Thirty women work in a sewing cooperative, making and marketing products typical of Mexico. Profits are shared equally among the members. The women sell their hand-made products through this website.
  • Eight women participate in a gardening cooperative, growing organic vegetables for their families and to sell.
  • The pre-kinder and kindergarten enroll 105 children who receive educational instruction as well as Catholic teaching. The teachers are all women of the colonia who are paid a just wage and receive scholarship assistance to further their own education.
  • Tarea (Homework Help) serves 300 children with
educational enrichment, physical exercise, Catholic values and a safe
environment to enjoy. Eleven women are paid as tutors and also receive
scholarship assistance for their own education.
  • Scholarships for children in elementary and
secondary school. Families with few means find it difficult to keep
children in school in Juarez because of the costs associated with
registration, monthly fees, books and uniforms. Each woman who regularly
attends Valores, Fe y Vida receives scholarship assistance to help keep
her children in school. The amount given is fifty dollars a year for
families with elementary school children and one hunderd for families
    with children in secondary school.
  • Youth Group Twice a month on Saturday mornings the secondary and preparatory school youth gather at the Center for various activities coordinated by parent volunteers.
