Dominican Sisters

Centro Santa Catalina was founded by two Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan: Sister Donna Kustusch and Sister Eleanor Stech.

In the summer of 2011 the Dominican Sisters of Peace (Columbus, Ohio) adopted the Center as a New Initiative of the congregation. The current director is Sister Rene Weeks, OP. She gives this short description of herself:  I am a Kansas native but have ministered mostly in Colorado, first in Denver and then in the southern part of the state where the culture is more like that of northern New Mexico. I began learning Spanish on the streets of Denver and continued to learn more in each new place of

reneministry. I have worked primarily with adults in bilingual, bicultural parishes whose membership was made up of local Hispanics as well as immigrants from Mexico and Guatemala. I am delighted to be at Centro Santa Catalina and especially love working with the women of Valores, Fe y Vida, the sewing cooperative and the gardeners as well as the kindergarten teachers and the tutors. These women encourage me to be faithful and hopeful in my own life!

Sister Maureen Gallagher, an Adrian Dominican Sister, volunteers as marketing director for the sewing cooperative.
