Jovenes de la Luz

Every two weeks about fifty young people gather at Centro Santa Catalina for two hours of activities. They call themselves Jovenes de la Luz or Young People of the Light. This past Saturday, guided by two adult mentors, they explored stories of youth like themselves who made good decisions or not so good decisions and shared what they could learn for their own lives.

After a serious hour it was time for fun. In groups of five they tried to build the highest possible tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows. The initial attempts almost all failed because they forgot the need to provide strength for their towers. But in the end the future architects succeeded in designing some creative structures that could withstand the weight of increasing height. No prizes were awarded, except for edible marshmallows!!
